About Keats Learning Academy Kitsilano

Keats Learning Academy Kitsilano is a physical K–12 tutoring centre on West 4th Avenue in Vancouver. It offers math and other academic tutoring through private one-to-one sessions, individualized small-class programs and online tutoring. Its math program follows the BC curriculum and includes support from elementary mathematics through senior courses such as Pre-Calculus 11 and 12 and Calculus 12, as well as AP Calculus AB/BC, AP Statistics and IB Math (AA and AI, SL and HL). New students begin with a 45-minute Learning Plan Session, where a senior tutor works through current school material, identifies learning gaps and prepares a written learning plan. Keats also offers support for students who are catching up, preparing for exams or working ahead, and says its tutors adapt instruction for students with ADHD, autism, dyslexia and other learning needs. Most in-person tutoring is offered at the Kitsilano academy. Keats' current policies also state that in-home tutoring may be available by arrangement depending on tutor availability and service area.

Teaching approach: Keats begins with a Learning Plan Session that identifies the student's current level, learning gaps and preferred ways of learning. Tutors then follow a written learning plan using the student's own school material alongside Keats' BC-curriculum-aligned booklets. Private students are matched to subject-specific tutors, and parents receive lesson notes and progress updates as the student moves through the plan.

How Tutoring Works

Students can bring current school homework and classroom material to sessions; Keats' policies say school work takes priority over supplementary Keats material. In Keats Monthly Membership, students work on individualized math or English material in a small class (about one tutor plus one tutor assistant for every 4–6 students) while tutors circulate, teach concepts individually and check each student's work. Semi-private tutoring is also available.

Tutor Qualifications

Keats Learning Academy says its math tutors include university-trained math, engineering and education students and graduates, including tutors with UBC backgrounds.
