Teaching approach: Book Smart Tutors matches students with tutors based on academic needs and learning style. Sessions are customized around the individual student rather than a standard group program. Tutors may help explain current school concepts, work through practice questions, review prerequisite skills, prepare for tests or help students move ahead in their course. The company says replacement tutors can be arranged when there is a demonstrable need for a different match, and that families are typically matched with a tutor within about 3–5 days.
Tutoring schedules are arranged based on tutor and student availability. Sessions are prepaid; Book Smart Tutors accepts credit card, PayPal and e-transfer, and discounted packages must be paid in full.
Tutoring packages start at $160/month. Pricing depends on the student's grade, subject and whether tutoring is in person or online. Book Smart Tutors says there are no contracts or registration fees. Starter, 12-hour and 24-hour package options are available, with discounts on larger packages.
