Oxford Learning's Edmonton locations

Math tutoring for Grades 1–12

Oxford Learning's math program is published for Grades 1 through 12. The company does not currently list specific Alberta course codes such as Math 10C, 20-1, 30-1 or Math 31, so families with a particular high-school course in mind should ask the local centre directly.

Beyond math, Oxford Learning offers reading, writing, English, French, science and study-skills support.

Tutoring format: small tables, not one-on-one

Oxford Learning's current FAQ says regular programs generally run at small tables with three students to one teacher. The idea is to mix direct instruction with independent practice.

This is different from standard one-on-one tutoring, so it is worth asking the centre how the format would work for your child.

Dynamic Assessment

New students usually start with Oxford's Dynamic Assessment. The company describes it as a proprietary combination of licensed testing activities that shows a student's academic skills and how the student thinks and learns.

The assessment is not advertised as free. Ask the local centre about its cost and scheduling.

Tutor qualifications

Oxford Learning says its tutors have post-secondary education and are trained in the Oxford Learning system, and that many also have backgrounds in public or private education and subject specialties.

The company does not say that every tutor is a certified teacher.

Programs

Company-wide programs include Little Readers (ages 3–6), Beyond Tutoring (Grades 1–8), the Advantage High School Success Program (Grades 9–12), Destination Français, SAT & ACT test prep, math tutoring, study-skills group programs, workshops and online tutoring.

Not every program is necessarily offered at every Edmonton centre, so confirm availability with the location you are considering.

Pricing: standard fees are not published

Oxford Learning does not post standard tutoring fees online. Its FAQ says pricing depends on the program, how often the student attends, and the city and province, and asks families to contact the local centre.

Seasonal offers do appear on some centre pages, but they are time-limited and should not be read as normal pricing.

Cancellation policy

Oxford Learning's current company FAQ states that it has a 30-day cancellation policy.

Families should confirm how the policy applies to their specific program and agreement with the local Edmonton centre before signing up.
