About Oxford Learning – Lethbridge

Oxford Learning – Lethbridge is located at 3735 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Unit 30, in south Lethbridge. The centre says it welcomes students from Lethbridge and surrounding areas, including Coaldale, Coalhurst, South Lethbridge, Six Miles, Tudor, Fairmont, Southridge, Prairie Arbor, Agnes Davidson and Redwood. These are communities the centre serves from its single Mayor Magrath location, not separate centres. Support covers math, English, reading and writing, science and French, along with study skills such as time management and organization. Online tutoring is also available for families who prefer not to attend in person. Programs listed on the centre's current official page include Beyond Tutoring (Grades 1–8), Advantage High School Success (Grades 9–12), Destination Français (all ages), ELL Tutoring (Grades 1–12), 20-Hour Math (all ages), Workshops (Grades 7–10) and University/College Prep (Grades 10–12). The main school-age programs cover Grades 1–12. The current Lethbridge team also lists instructors who teach high-school and university-level mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology, which is useful for senior students and those preparing for or already in post-secondary courses. Not every program will suit every student, so families should discuss goals and fit with the centre.

Teaching approach: Oxford Learning describes its approach as cognitive, learning-skills coaching combined with subject instruction. The company says it focuses on understanding rather than memorization, builds a customized learning plan for each student, and works on thinking and learning skills alongside course content. Sessions pair direct teacher support with independent work, and also aim to build study skills, organization, confidence and motivation. These are Oxford Learning's own descriptions of its method, not independent findings by MathTutorsNearMe.ca.

How Tutoring Works

1. Families contact the Lethbridge centre at 403-344-0084. 2. New students typically begin with Oxford Learning's Dynamic Assessment. 3. The assessment looks at academic performance as well as how the student thinks and learns. 4. A personalized program is then built around the student's needs. 5. Regular Oxford programs generally use small tables with three students to one teacher, balancing direct instruction with independent work. 6. Online tutoring is also available.
